"Participative Integrated Ecosystem Services Management Plans for Bakassi Post Conflict Ecosystems (PINESMAP- BPCE)"

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has approved the project entitled "Participatory Integrated Ecosystem Services Management Plans for Bakassi Post Conflict Ecosystems (PINESMAP-BPCE)" on behalf of its fifth operational phase (GEF 5: 2010-2014). The four-year project aims to ensure the conservation, sustainable use and improved management of the Bakassi Peninsula ecosystems through integrated ecosystem management plans including assessment of ecosystems.This project, which will be implemented under the supervision of UN-Environment (formerly UNEP) and in close collaboration with key government institutions, co-financing partners, civil society organizations, community-based organizations and the sector Private partnership, is benefiting from a grant from the GEF of US $ 2,652,968 and an overall co-financing amount of US $ 12,850,000. This funding will help to develop an integrated management plan for Bakassi ecosystem that will include: (i) sustainable management of mangrove forest ecosystems that constitute highly important aquatic biodiversity hotspots and are threatened by overexploitation, infrastructure development, and oil exploration activities with negative consequences on important biodiversity species; (ii) an effective financing mechanism to support integrated sustainable ecosystem management and biodiversity conservation; (iii) an integrated approach to natural resources management in a post conflict situation where building trust is the first challenge; and (iv) institutional strengthening and adequate coordination to achieve local development objectives. It will bring together in a more coherent and holistic way the fragmented baseline initiatives from different sectors, targeting specific communities or ecosystems, and will then serve as a framework for organizing scientific and stakeholders’ consultation outcome to approve or implement decisions in Bakassi ecosystem management at multiple scales and across sectors
To achieve the above-mentioned project objective, the project will implement the following three components:
Component 1: Institutional and Stakeholder capacity building to be able to engage in the development and implementation of the IESMP;
Component 2: Participative and inclusive development and implementation of IESMP;
Component 3: Knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation.
In order to complete the project implementation team in accordance with the project document, the Government of the Republic of Cameroon through the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development is launching the recruitment of one Coordinator, an accounting secretary and a driver.
The Minister of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development invites all interested candidates to express their interest by producing information demonstrating that they are competent to occupy one of the above-mentioned posts (qualifications, experience in positions Similar, Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter, Contracts, Other Documentation, etc.).The terms of reference for each post are available on the GEF Cameroon web site at www.gef-cameroon.org. or the Ministry of Environment Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development at www.minep.gov.cm.
